Our Philosophy
Lilse McKenna Inc. creates interiors rooted in tradition and designed for the way people live today. We approach each project with an appreciation for the relationship between a home’s architecture and its interiors, creating spaces that feel considered and connected to their surroundings. Through antiques, custom furnishings, textiles, art, and architectural details, we create homes that feel personal, individual, and enduring.
The Design Process
Our design process is thoughtful, comprehensive, and highly detailed. From initial planning and design development through procurement and installation, our studio carefully manages each stage of a project to ensure the design is carried through with clarity and intention.
DISCOVERY & PLANNING
Every project begins by establishing an understanding of the client’s priorities and intentions for the space. We define the scope, review the existing conditions as needed, and use these early conversations to shape a clear direction for the design.
DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE
With the scope and direction established, we develop the design through space planning, furnishings, materials, finishes, and architectural details as appropriate to each project. For projects involving renovation or construction, our architectural design capabilities can extend from custom millwork and cabinetry to reconfigured floor plans, kitchens and baths, and substantial additions. Depending on the scope, we may develop this work within our studio or collaborate closely with architects, builders, and other project partners.
INSTALLATION
Once the design is finalized, our team oversees the many details required to bring it to life, from procurement and production through delivery and installation. We coordinate closely with our trusted network of vendors, craftspeople, and workrooms before completing the project with the installation of furnishings, art, and the finishing details.
